Looks like some Baptists in South Carolina are pretty homophobic. From
the article:
Encouraging churches to work to curb gang violence.
Calling for laws restricting sexually oriented businesses.
Opposing the Catawba Indian Tribe’s proposal to start a high-stakes bingo operation in Marion County.
Encouraging Baptists to help pro-life pregnancy care centers purchase ultrasound machines.
Praying for candidates for political offices and thinking of their vote as a Christian duty.
How wonderful. I don't quite understand why they chose those topics, but let's try to understand their reasoning:
(continued)
- Encouraging churches to work to curb gang violence. Sure, sounds good on paper. How? Pray them into being nice to each other? Actually, the real way to eliminate gangs would just be to legalize drugs, but these people would clearly shit a brick if that happened.
- Calling for laws restricting sexually oriented businesses. Kind of like the laws that restricted businesses owned by other ethnic groups, like blacks and Jews. Brilliant. Maybe we can burn some sexually oriented books while we're at it? Let us not forget all the scientific papers that say that gayness has a strong genetic component. Might as well restrict sexually oriented science studies too.
- Opposing the Catawba Indian Tribe’s proposal to start a high-stakes bingo operation in Marion County. No. Flat out, no. Sorry, but the Christians have consistently been fucking over the entire Native American population for the last 600 years. Let them have their god damned bingo parlor. When it comes to the whole stealing-the-entire-country-from-them thing, I figure the least you can do is let them run a bingo shop. Maybe then they'll have a fighting chance of taking back the country you stole from them, you assholes.
- Encouraging Baptists to help pro-life pregnancy care centers purchase ultrasound machines. ... or you could help bail out that bankrupt county hospital you have running over there so that we could help living people as opposed to fetuses that are increasingly likely to die if they're born anyway due to our extremely high infant mortality rate.
- Praying for candidates for political offices and thinking of their vote as a Christian duty. What? I thought God decided the fate of all mankind. Now you're telling me that he needs to be reminded what his job is and why you think he should be doing it? That's kind of a dick thing to do. By the way, the Bible (and more importantly Jesus) doesn't say anything about voting, so I'm having trouble figuring out how it's one's "Christian duty" to keep fucking the country up even more. How much more debt would you like us in? How many more countries do you want us to invade? Read up on the Crusades before answering that question. Hopefully we never get to the infamous Children's Crusade; though, at the rate we're going, I wouldn't be surprised.
I'd tell you South Carolina Baptists to go see a shrink, but you can't afford it without socialized healthcare, now can you?
Pity.
