Is Bush Stupid or Wickedly Smart?

Imagine if he knows exactly what he's doing, and has been faking it the whole time.

After all, the Republicans had a good thing going by hiring an actor, Ronald Regan, to play the part of a sunny, bright conservative who could actually convince people of the idea of Reganomics. They also scored two extra points with Arnold in California as well. It seems to me that if you're an exceptionally good actor and you're not hated by most people, then with the right amount of cash you're set for whatever comes your way.

It is an extremely powerful ability to make people think you're an idiot when you're actually smart, and it allows one to blame another's shortcomings and mistakes on his alter-ego. After all, you can't blame a mentally retarded kid for saying something ridiculously stupid or mean, but if a genius were to do it, everyone would point, laugh, and ostracize him from peer circles.

Thus, if Bush plays the retard, he takes less heat for his bad actions in the long run, but is rewarded disproportionately for his short-run successes. If this truly is the case, it's ingenious, and I wish I had thought of it first.

Just something to think about. Hopefully I'm wrong.
